This special issue will broadly cover the topics related to the tumor microenvironment and nanomedicine. Better understanding of the role of the tumor microenvironment in tumor development, progression, and metastasis provide us new opportunities to develop new therapeutics against cancer. Use of nanomedicine to deliver therapeutic molecules into the tumor microenvironment offers new options to modulate it and treat tumors effectively. This issue will include a range of review and research articles on the following topics but not limited.

  • New therapeutic pathways in tumor microenvironment
  • Strategies to modulate the tumor microenvironment
  • Nanoparticles to deliver drugs to the tumor microenvironment
  • Delivery systems to modulate the tumor immune microenvironment
  • Diagnostic tools to detect biomarkers in the tumor microenvironment
  • 3D tumor models to evaluate advanced therapies against the tumor microenvironment

All the invited and contributed manuscripts will undergo the standard peer-review procedure of the Journal “Theranostics”, and will be scrutinized by two expert reviewers in the field. The DEADLINE for the full article submission is set for March 30, 2022, and the first decision will conclude within 6-8 weeks from submission after peer-review process.

Manuscripts for the special issue can be submitted online at https://www.thno.org/ms/submit (mark "NanoTME Special Issue" in the "Suggested reviewers" field to identify the paper).

Detailed formatting instructions, in particular, the formatting of references, can be found in http://www.thno.org/ms/author.
